This art print after the Hundertwasser's painting "HATS THAT WEAR YOU" (oeuvre 844) is a premium 7-colour offset print on 250 g/sqm cast coated, high gloss paper. Gold and silver glossy-foils are embossed in several finishing steps. Four specialized companies in the area around Stuttgart are involved in this complicated manufacturing process.
The silver frame has a grey inner edge, the passe-partout is acid-free and the glass is a 2 mm thick scratch-resistant float glass. To prevent bending and waving because of fluctuations in temperature and humidity, the art print has been laminated on the back panel and the passe-partout has been glued on the art print. Furthermore the art print has been framed dust-proof. These production techniques have been applied to achieve a long lasting and optically perfect result.
Hundertwasser comment about the work:
"One puts on a hat. When people go through a street wearing high hats, the architectural appearance of the city is changed. When someone wants to be bigger than he is, he wears elevator shoes, even walks on stilts and wears crowns or high hats on his head. If top hats are very high and big, one can fly with them, so that one has to hang onto the hat. Then one does not wear a hat, the hat wears one."
