Hundertwasser Art Prints

Based on the original artworks, Hundertwasser art prints were further developed from case to case and produced in an elaborate offset printing process.

Hundertwasser knew that painting is a completely different medium in comparison to printing. They are two different media, two different techniques. Hundertwasser therefore never attempted to convert a painting into a print but saw the painting as the starting point for a new work in the printing process. He took advantages and possibilities of printing on paper and, with the help of sophisticated printing techniques, further developed, changed and designed the work, resulting in a new work.

In contrast to the original painting, which is unique, art prints are produced in editions. Because art prints are seen by even more people, Hundertwasser used the possibilities of printing techniques, which are not available in painting, to produce a work of printing art. Here the art print often differs from the painting in colors, foils and much more. Hundertwasser art prints are printed mirror-inverted, because the print opens up a new dimension and can be discovered in a new light. Furthermore, fakes and imitations are made more difficult.
