This art print after the Hundertwasser's painting "DER BLAUE MOND - ATLANTIS" (oeuvre 650) is a premium 7-colour offset print on 250 g/sqm cast coated, high gloss paper. Green and highly refractive silver and gold glossy-foils are embossed in several steps befor the printing process begins. Four specialized companies are involved in this complicated manufacturing process.
The silver frame has a grey inner edge, the passe-partout is acid-free and the glass is a 2 mm thick scratch-resistant float glass. To prevent bending and waving because of fluctuations in temperature and humidity, the art print has been laminated on the back panel and the passe-partout has been glued on the art print. Furthermore the art print has been framed dust-proof. These production techniques have been applied to achieve a long lasting and optically perfect result.
Hundertwasser comment about the work:
"This is one of the rare pictures I painted after a dream. I saw the blue vase very clearly, and I noted everything down in great detail after waking up and sketched the form of the vase. But pictures of dreams have nothing at all to do with quality. So many painters have tried time and again to eternalise a seemingly fantastic parallel world under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Nothing has ever resulted from it. Unless one has this world inside oneself. But then one needs neither drugs nor alcohol."
